Do Kids Need a Chiropractor?

Children's Chiropractic Services
Stress and trauma to the body and spine usually begin with the birthing process. Infants' muscles can easily become over tight causing restrictions in the spine from the intense pressure involved in both natural and cesarean births. Unfortunately, other than crying, they have no way of communicating their pain and its source to us. Throughout infancy they may sleep in awkward positions, and occasionally take a tumble, as they grow into toddlers who twist and fall while learning to crawl and walk, all of these developmental steps can cause them to have discomfort that can be resolved with chiropractic care. Luckily, they are very resilient and can take a lot of impact, but if not treated it is common for these injuries to develop into patterns of movement that will restrict joint motion over time.
As kids, they may start to develop bad posture. Sitting in front of a computer or TV can have serious repercussions on the spine. They also start playing contact sports, wearing heavy backpacks (most likely the wrong way), and even sitting at desks, which can all cause issues. As teenagers, they begin to deal with the stress of more daily responsibilities, like becoming part of the workforce, increased homework loads, stress of personal relationships, and performing physical labor. Similar to adults, all of these responsibilities can lead to muscle tightness, joint pain or stiffness, and a decrease in their abilities to handle all that life is putting on their shoulders. Incorporating chiropractic care into their lives early can help them recognize the difference in how their body feels so that they can better advocate for themselves and their overall health.
